I have lived in Mid Sussex all my life and care deeply about the future of our local area. I am a local businessman, a father of two and a grandfather of two, and I have spent many years working on behalf of local communities across Mid Sussex. I understand the value of a strong community, a place where people feel supported, listened to and able to thrive. Garry’s bio materials describe him as Mid Sussex born and raised, a local businessman, father of two, grandfather of two, and someone who feels passionately about the area and community.
I entered local politics in 2007 and have had the privilege of serving in a number of senior roles, including as Leader of Mid Sussex District Council from 2009 to 2019. More recently, at West Sussex County Council, I have served as Chairman of the Health and Adult Scrutiny Committee and as Cabinet Member for Economy and Skills. Over the years I have worked on major county issues and built strong relationships with our Parish Councils, always with one goal in mind: to make sure the concerns of local people are properly heard and understood. Those roles and that stated goal are set out across the uploaded bio and campaign documents.
I believe local government plays a vital role in our daily lives. It should be about common sense, sound finances, protecting key services and making sure our communities have the support they need to prosper. I would be proud to continue being that voice for our area. This closing message closely reflects the language in Garry’s uploaded campaign drafts.
