Stop Parking Charges in Cuckfield
Conservative West Sussex County Councillor Pete Bradbury is leading the campaign against the introduction of parking charges in Cuckfield by the Liberal Democrat-led Mid Sussex District Council.
This deeply unpopular proposal has been brought forward with little to no consultation with the very people it affects most: our residents, local businesses, churchgoers, and village visitors.
Parking in Cuckfield has always supported the village’s unique charm and accessibility. These new charges would:
- Place an unnecessary financial burden on residents, particularly older people and families running everyday errands.
- Threaten the viability of local businesses, who rely on free short-stay parking for passing trade.
- Discourage church attendance and community engagement, especially on Sundays when many rely on accessible parking to attend services and events.
- Deter visitors from coming into the village, affecting not just commerce but the wider cultural and social life of Cuckfield.
Cllr Bradbury and the local Conservative team are calling on Mid Sussex District Council to reverse this decision immediately and commit to properly engaging with the community before taking such impactful actions.
We urge all those who care about Cuckfield’s future to stand with us. Sign the petition, speak out, and help us protect what makes our village work for everyone.
Together, we can make a difference.
