Nicholas Soames warmly welcomes the speech by the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel, today to the Houses of Parliament, in which she called for a strong UK, with a strong voice in the European Union.
Nicholas Soames remarked that “In an excellent speech, the Chancellor reminded us of the historic value of the EU. As we commemorate the centenary of the First World War, her timely reminder about the recent Western Balkan wars reminds us of the proximity of conflict. We owe it to Churchill and Adenauer to live up to that historic promise to live in a peaceful, democratic and prosperous Europe”.
